10th Nepal Human Rights International Film Festival Begins


The 10 Nepal Human Rights International Film Festival (NHRIFF) was has begun on December 18, 2022 in Kathmandu with the theme of ‘Climate Justice’.

The inaugural ceremony was addressed by Hon. Top Bahadur Magar, Chairperson, National Human Rights Commission. He wished for the success of the festival and inspired the participants. The program was followed by opening remarks. Mr. Arun Deo Joshi, Chairman of the festival, formally welcomed everyone to the opening ceremony followed by objectives sharing of the festival. Opening remarks delivered by Mr. Amrit Devkota, Program Coordinator-Nepal, Terre des homes Germany, Ms. Lorena Lando Chief of Mission IOM Nepal, Ms. Kavitha Kasynathan, Head of the Development, Australian Embassy, Nepal, Dr. Joelle Hivonnet, Deputy Head of Delegation, Charge de Affairs, Delegation of European Union to Nepal, Manju Gurung, Coordinator Human Rights Magnameet 2022.

 

The opening ceremony was chaired by Mr. Bishnu Bahadur Khatri, chairman of the human rights film center. The entire opening ceremony was facilitated by Mr. Hiranya Joshi, general secretary human rights film center. All speakers have presented the current scenario of human rights in Nepal and the world. They acknowledged the festival and said, “this kind of festival brings out the human rights issues from the community”. In the end, Mr. Bishnu Bahadur Khatri (Chairman, HRFC)) offered a vote of thanks to all.
The festival will run until December 21, 2022. 68 films from 25 countries will be screened throughout the festival.
