Cultural Artist Workshop on Street Drama with young people


A Cultural Artist Workshop on Street Drama with young people in the Mahankal Village, Lalitpur was organized On 7 August 2020. Mahankal Village, Lalitpur lies on southernmost rural village of the Kathmandu valley in Nepal, where MAP team have visited to the village to conduct street drama. Twenty-two local young people gathered for a workshop dedicated to street drama. These young people are members of community-based youth clubs which organize regular community-based theater practices, English language classes, local musical classes and sports activities.

The workshop focused on possible ways to engage young people in the policy initiatives and engagement. The participants focused on two possibilities: first, the opportunity for leadership experiences within child and youth clubs; and, second, the importance social media platforms such as TikTok, Facebook, YouTube and Instagram for connecting young people with arts and social issues within communities.

Drama preparation

This workshop highlighted the potential for integrating art-based approaches and online platforms and the workshop findings will be significant for future MAP activities, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic.
